Save Our Libraries

Three Libraries in Doncaster are under threat of closure after April, based on a crude assessment of having allegedly the lowest footfall.

Here is a link to UNISON active, that argues that if you don't invest in libraries and books you are bound to have lower footfall. This lack of investment will have a devastating impact on our communities and educational attainment. http://unisonactive.blogspot.com/2010/08/under-investment-in-libraries-will-lead.html

A new campaign has been set up to defend libraries and trained library staff: http://voicesforthelibrary.org.uk

It is a place for everyone who loves libraries to share their stories and experiences of the value of public libraries.

Voices for the Library provides balanced information, and an insight into why librarians are important for the future of the public library.

Voices for the Library are not willing to allow cuts to libraries to slip by without public outcry. This is an opportunity for people who know how important libraries are to make their voices heard.
